Features of Dynamics 365 Finance , Supply Chain Management /
Dynamics 365 Business Central on Azure
Dynamics 365 Finance , Supply Chain Management / Dynamics 365 Business Central on Azure supports quick implementation whether domestically or overseas.
For example, if a company needed to implement an ERP for a new overseas office, it would be time-consuming to purchase or rent and then set up the servers. An engineer from the headquarters may even need to be dispatched to assist with server room design and racking. With Microsoft Azure available anywhere in the world, companies can set up and manager servers frome any location.
Creating a virtual server
A virtual server on Azure pre-installed with Dynamics 365 Finance , Supply Chain Management/Dynamics 365 Business Central lets users start implementations without having to set up a database or install applications.
Small Start – Scale up／Scale out
This allows a system administrator to manage server resources on Microsoft Azure Portal. For example, this feature supports an easy scaling up and a scaling down as the number of companies to manage using an ERP solution fluctuates.
Microsoft Azure has sufficient availability to run a core system such as an ERP.
A Microsoft Azure region consists of multiple data centers. One such Microsoft Azure data center takes up as much space as ten football fields and there are 16 data centers to one region, running 100,000 servers. Even if one physical server fails, it is instantly switched to another physical server.
All data in a storage account is made redundant by replicating transactions synchronously to three different storage nodes within the same region. The three replicas are spread across UDs and FDs to ensure that data is available even if hardware failure impacts a single rack. Geo-redundant storage is also available as an optional extra. With this option, three replicas are stored in different regions as an effective measure to cope with natural disasters.
Development & Verification Environment
Core system operation often requires a verification environment in addition to a production environment. Verification environment are often useful for testing upgrades and settings changes. With the pay-as-you-go system, this reduces the cost of purchasing additional servers for verification.
Users only pay for what they use (see below graphic). Activities such as additional development after go-live or data recovery testing to prepare for natural disasters are charged according to use each time.
Potential with ERP × Azure
The continuing evolution of Microsoft Azure provides a steady stream of new features. With the combination of Dynamics AX/NAV and Azure, users can get the most out of an ERP.
Here are some examples of how Dynamics 365 Finance , Supply Chain Management / Dynamics 365 Business Central on Azure could be used in the future.
ERP × Azure SQL Database
Dynamics 365 Business Central offers an SQL Database on Microsoft Azure.
The pay-as-you-go model for a database provides cost savings and optimized performance according to data volume and processing.
ERP × Azure Machine Learning
With Azure Machine Learning, a machine learning tool on Microsoft Azure, users can learn how to make optimum data models. For example, a user could analyze the correlation between sales revenue in the ERP and big data sets such as geography, weather, stock prices, etc., and then creating a sales forecast on that basis.
ERP × Azure Data Factory
Microsoft Azure Data Factory enables the safe and rapid processing, conversion and transfer of data. Possible uses include as a tool for integration between ERP and other systems, and for transferring data between subsidiaries.
