Notice Regarding Discontinuation of Use of Compressed Files with Passwords in E-mail

Pacific Business Consulting, Inc. (hereinafter called “we/our/us”) would like to inform you that we will discontinue the use of compressed files with password in E-mail accounts used by our employees in our business for all E-mail transmission on and after May 23rd, 2022 (Mon).

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our customers, business partners, and related organizations, and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Compressed files with passwords are extremely difficult to check for malware when receiving E-mail since such files are encrypted. Compressed files with passwords are used as infection measures of malware such as “Emotet”, which has been rapidly increasing in recent years and such malicious attacks have been confirmed in the Kansai Electric Power Group. In Japan, the Cabinet Office and the Cabinet Secretariat have already discontinued sending compressed files with passwords and the movement to discontinue using such files is proceeding.

Considering the above background, we have determined to discontinue using compressed files with passwords in order to further enhance the information security of our business partners and our company.

On and after May 23rd, 2022 (Mon), files will no longer be attached to the E-mail sent by our company, but will be downloaded from the download website. Please find the link of the website in the body of the E-mail to download files.

If you are unable to use the download website for any reason, please contact the person in charge in our company.

Sincerely,
